The Challenge
The company’s legacy Warehouse Management System (WMS) and routing system were too manual – slowing down logistics and welcoming unwanted human error. In order to integrate the WMS to a new routing technology, Digibee needed to build the initial pipelines quickly and efficiently.
The project presented several challenges :
- With multifaceted needs of cars and parts to customers and a host of suppliers, retailers and dealers – the routing system required manual entry, resulting in unnecessary delays and inevitable mistakes caused by human error
- System maintenance was costly and time consuming
- Beyond internal routing challenges, partners and customers were also experiencing frustration
- Replacing the routing technology while maintaining integral connections with other legacy systems proved to be impossible
The Objective
- Replace the legacy routing system and integrate to WMS, end points, and partners with no downtime.
The Plan
The strategy involved two phases:
- Digibee scoped the environment, planning 10 pipelines for the first phase in less than 2 months
- Integration between WMS and new SaaS routing system was built and tested to ensure transition to a new system was smooth and caused zero downtime
The Outcome
- Faster, more automated logistics
- Lower maintenance costs
- Worldwide company enabled local logistics support for supply chain
- Widely adopted amongst routing and logistics partners
With the success of the integration project, the auto company began investigating how Digibee could help with other integration use cases.
Digibee’s simple, cost-effective platform requires less time and resources, providing this global auto manufacturing with the means to embrace reusability and scalability for other business objectives.
